Southwestern and Uloop Pair Up for the Students
May 10th, 2011One of Nashville’s oldest companies has teamed up with one of Nashville’s hottest online companies. The two companies with not much in common on the surface have formed a partnership because of their common audience – college students.
Southwestern helps young people achieve their goals through running their own business during their summer break to offset their college education. Uloop helps young people fulfill needs they have while on campus during the school year. “Both companies cater to the needs of students, so it really is a natural fit,” says Henry Bedford, Chairman and CEO of Southwestern.
Student participants of the Southwestern summer sales program can promote the Uloop brand on campus and now also have the opportunity to make additional money throughout the school year by representing Uloop to potential advertisers and vendors.
Uloop, established in 2007, is a college-based online marketplace for students providing a platform to buy, sell, promote and trade with classmates and local businesses. Currently, Uloop has four operating business units including the popular and growing site ULoop. The site serves the needs of thousands of college students at over 1,000 colleges and universities throughout the country.
Other Uloop initiatives include college newspaper classifieds, text link networking and a “Daily Deal” to benefit local college town merchants and the students who make up their customer base.
“With the experience the Southwestern student dealers have in the realm of sales and presentations, it’s a natural progression,” says Bedford “Southwestern’s mission is to help young people achieve their goals in life. The Uloop partnership extends that mission. Experience students gain while running a business during their college years constitutes an advantage over their peers.”
