CCC Massage Therapy Student Uses Trade to Aide Autistic Son
August 27th, 2010Sheila Coman enrolled in the Community Care College (CCC) Massage Therapy program to learn a trade that could continue to help her autistic son. She has not been disappointed with her training to this point. It has been exactly what she was looking for.
Coman came to CCC specifically to learn about massage and spa treatments that can be used to enhance detoxification. Her 12-year-old autistic son had been participating in hyperbaric oxygen therapy but was unable to continue and this program was her way to continue this natural treatment.
“The changes in him were incredible, but we weren’t able to repeat the therapy for financial reasons. Meanwhile, I have been using natural supplements to rid the body of heavy metals,” said Coman.
Coman is currently in her last class in the CCC massage therapy program, and then will complete a 180 hour externship to graduate. She is well on her way to being a red-rober for the college – A-average and perfect attendance (no tardy or early-leaves).
After graduation, Coman would like to work at and eventually own a therapeutic spa for children with disabilities where they can come and get reflexology, Epsom salt baths, sauna, dry skin brushing, aromatherapy, cranio-sacral therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
