Nutrition EZ: K-5 Nutrition Education with Core Subjects

July 7th, 2009

As the rate of child obesity continues to increase, it is time to help kids learn how to make nutritious decisions.

The K-5 200 page USDA based Nutrition EZ book is finally available!

This wonderful and engaging standard based resource provides great ideas on incorporating nutrition education within the core curriculum.   Additionally, in this day of teacher directed curriculum, NUTRITION EZ gives kids many opportunities to be involved in the learning process; measuring the amount of sugar in popular beverages and food items, reenacting the milling process to learn the difference between whole and refined grains, and measuring the circumference of delicious produce all the while understanding the healthy benefits of specific nutrients are just the beginning!

NUTRITION EZ is for parents and teachers who wish to instill healthy life long habits in children who are constantly influenced by less healthy food options from media, schools, and fast foods.

Nutrition EZ has quickly become popular with teachers such as Kim Giorgio who with bounds of energy stated, “nutrition has become my students’ most favorite subject in my class.  Building 3D food pyramids, sanding whole grains, playing fat detective, measuring grams of sugar, and tasting healthy fruit and vegetables keeps them engaged.  All the while they forget they are practicing core skills in reading, writing and math.  This book has helped me make education more engaging and fun for my students.  Nutrition EZ truly is a must for every teacher and parent!”
