Residential Landlords Association Partners with Lowe’s to Offer Big Discounts to Members

November 22nd, 2010

Los Angeles, CA – ARPOLA is a residential landlords association that offers many great benefits to members including free rental agreement forms, Lowe’s discounts, and many resources for property managers.

The American Rental Property Owners & Landlords Association (ARPOLA) is a professional association representing independent rental property owners, landlords of single family homes and managers of small apartment complexes. ARPOLA boasts the best services available at association pricing.

Founded in 2009, ARPOLA’s inception was based on the premise that 94% of the rental property in the United States is owned by individuals. Many of these independent owners have a few properties and would benefit from a national residential landlords association with a substantial presence in rental owner legislation, retail discounts for members, a rental owner insurance program, asset protection, estate planning and education/training for streamlining the management of rentals.

ARPOLA is especially proud of their relationship with Lowe’s and the exceptional benefits their partnership brings to members. The Lowe’s benefits are exclusive to the ARPOLA residential landlords association members and include discounts up to 30 percent off on merchandise. In addition, Lowe’s will set up purchase order billing for members to make their purchasing experience more convenient and efficient. Members who use their Lowe’s Accounts Receivable (LAR) Card can enjoy a 2% prompt-pay rebate on all Lowe’s purchase and a low delivery charge of only $20 (normally $79) within a 20-mile radius of their local store.

“Not everyone has a truck for hauling large items, and with gas prices today, this benefit can add up quickly,” said Rebecca McLean, co founder of ARPOLA. “Most of our members quickly discover that the Lowe’s discount pays for their one-year membership in with their first purchase.”

The ARPOLA residential landlords association offers many other benefits to members including free residential leases, rental forms, an exclusive insurance program, real estate tax services, estate planning, superior tenant screening and many more valuable resources for landlords. CSC Ambassadors Volunteered at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless

November 8th, 2010

Clary Sage College (CSC) employees and student ambassadors volunteered at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless Sunday, October 10, for several hours.

“It is wonderful to work with a company so generous with money and talent to help make our backyard a better place. This event shattered incorrect stereotypes for everyone there, including myself, and it was truly rewarding,” said Ronnie Carlson, CSC evening team leader and ambassador sponsor.

Carlson, along with Courtney Thompson, high school recruiter, Mikala Ewald, master instructor, Lilli Kuykendall, master instructor, and six ambassadors provided free haircuts, make-up applications and donated kits that included basic hygiene products and cosmetics.

In this current economic climate, services and supplies of this kind are at a greater need than ever. There were many families with children there who have never utilized resources or shelters in their life. The ambassadors will return next month with even more services and supplies for donation.

According to its website, an average of 400 people seek shelter and services a day at the Day Center. Eight case managers work one-on-one with clients to remove barriers to self-sufficiency.
The Nurses’ Clinic provides urgent care, TB testing, vision screening, health education and referrals to other health care resources. They seek to protect the dignity of each person by providing food, warmth, shelter and safety to meet immediate and pressing needs.

October 26th, 2010

Lake Orion, MI – Antony Bradley is a Lake Orion Handyman who has become quite popular with people who are listing their home for sale in today’s market. “Fortunately, there are many low cost projects that homeowners can do themselves to make their home stand out from the competition,” said Bradley.

During a recent interview, Bradley told us how he partners with the homeowner to help them prepare their home for sale. “Small, inexpensive home repairs can mean a lot to a perspective buyer,” said Bradley. “By displaying your pride of ownership and love of your home, you will be way ahead of the banks that are listing foreclosed homes that are in disrepair.”

Antony Bradley owns HandyPro Handyman Services in North Oakland County. Antony enjoys building positive relationships with his customers as he joins them in their effort to make their home more marketable today.

While he is repairing drippy faucets, corroded showerheads and leaky toilets, the homeowner can be cleaning and organizing the home to remove clutter and give an appearance of a comfortable, roomy home.

For older homes, Antony concentrates on things like sprucing up the kitchen cabinets with new knobs and handles; replacing old sinks or making necessary repairs to give them a shiny, new appearance; updating light fixtures; re-grouting ceramic tile and making sure doors open and close properly.

Meanwhile, the homeowner can be cleaning the home, inside and out. “Clean windows and siding and neat landscaping give buyers a good first impression, inviting them to come inside and see the home,” said Bradley.

“Hiring a handyman for the small home repairs and remodeling projects can make a big difference in your success in selling your home,” said Bradley. “I will do a “walk-through” first to spot the items that will stand out to buyers, and then I will come in with everything I need to make the necessary repairs.”

Robert Shumake Continues Running for His Life

October 23rd, 2010

Detroit, MI – Robert Shumake is no stranger to uphill battles. “I ran cross country in high school, a race that literally has its ups and downs,” said Shumake. “I was also on my high school and college track teams where I often felt like I was running for my life. Why? Because as an African-American growing up in Detroit, I knew I had to seize every opportunity I could in order to be a success in life.”

When Robert Shumake seized the opportunity to play sports in school he learned to work hard, both on the field and in school. “I learned to stay focused on my studies and work hard to succeed in all aspects of my life,” said Shumake. “Participating in high school athletics is what taught me the value of teamwork, dedication, perseverance and discipline.”

Today, Robert Shumake is a successful businessman and CEO of a private equity firm called Inheritance Capital Group. Robert Shumake’s dream to inspire young people of the next generation and his love of running inspired his founding the Robert S. The Scholarship Relays represents Robert Shumake’s way of giving back to his community and helping young athletes achieve their dreams, not only on the track, but in life as well. “I am so proud of this event because we highlight academic achievement right alongside athletic ability,” said Shumake.

The Shumake Relays, now in its 6th year, is just the tip of the iceberg. CCC Massage Therapy Student Uses Trade to Aide Autistic Son

August 27th, 2010

Sheila Coman enrolled in the Community Care College (CCC) Massage Therapy program to learn a trade that could continue to help her autistic son. She has not been disappointed with her training to this point. It has been exactly what she was looking for.

Coman came to CCC specifically to learn about massage and spa treatments that can be used to enhance detoxification. Her 12-year-old autistic son had been participating in hyperbaric oxygen therapy but was unable to continue and this program was her way to continue this natural treatment.

“The changes in him were incredible, but we weren’t able to repeat the therapy for financial reasons. Meanwhile, I have been using natural supplements to rid the body of heavy metals,” said Coman.

Coman is currently in her last class in the CCC massage therapy program, and then will complete a 180 hour externship to graduate. She is well on her way to being a red-rober for the college – A-average and perfect attendance (no tardy or early-leaves).

After graduation, Coman would like to work at and eventually own a therapeutic spa for children with disabilities where they can come and get reflexology, Epsom salt baths, sauna, dry skin brushing, aromatherapy, cranio-sacral therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Attendees answered “strongly agree” to the question of if the speaker was knowledgeable and prepared (97%), if her presentation skills were effective (97%), if they were able to perform the skills and/or apply the concepts presented (89%) and if enough analogies and examples were given to illustrate technical points (89%).
